Your Stealth Onboard Drinking Water System FAQ's Answered

All Stealth onboard drinking water systems provide clean drinking water everywhere you go, but which one fits your adventure vehicle or boat best?

  1. How do the Stealth units treat my water?

Most of the Stealth models combine Solid Activated Carbon Block filtration with UV sanitization. This is the most effective way to remove chemicals, bad taste, and inactivate bacteria and microbiological hazards.

  2. Should I select a 5, 10, or 2X10 model?

These numbers refer to the size of the carbon filter. Which one you need depends on the space you have available. Since carbon filters are more effective the larger they are, you should try to select a 10 inch carbon filter model if at all possible. The 5 inch models are optimized for smaller spaces, and work really well for vans and small campers. The Stealth 2x10 adds a prefilter and is best suited to expedition vehicles with 75+ gallon fresh water tanks and more space for systems.

  3. What's the difference between the Flex and the regular Stealth?

The Flex models work best when retrofitting an existing galley because the components are able to fit the existing space. The standard Stealth models are contained all on one bracket, which increases the space required, but makes for a cleaner installation on new builds.

  4. If I get the 10" model, does the carbon block cartridge last longer?

Unfortunately, no. Both size carbon block cartridges get replaced at the same intervals. The 10" filters do the maximum to make your water taste great. The six month time replacement recommendation is based on a natural biofilm that grows on all carbon block cartridges over 6 months or so.

  5. Do I have to winterize the Stealth?

YES! YES! YES! All Stealth models need to be winterized. We provide instructions in the online manual, but it's as easy as taking out the carbon block cartridge and then running food grade RV antifreeze or air through your system.

  6. Do I have to have a separate drinking water faucet?

No. If you would like to isolate your system, or perhaps just winterize the drinking water, then a separate faucet is recommended. Otherwise, it can be installed in a tee off your cold water line.
